Domestic Violence - Victim & Perpetrator

Center For Positive Change has a Batterer's Intervention Program (BIP) certified by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) which meets the requirements under State Law for court-mandated participants. ICADV recognizes three core principles that are the foundation for any work with people who batter. Each principle has several activities that ICADV sees as critical practices under the principles. The core principles of practice are:

Safety

The safety of battered men or women, their families, and the community as a whole is paramount and of critical importance in any work with men or women who batter.

Accountibaility

The two levels of accountability are critical for our BIP program: ensuring the accountability of those who batter and ensuring that the facilitators themselves and supporting systems are accountable.

Collaboration

In order to engage in safe and accountable work, our BIP works in collaboration with local programs that serve victims/survivors of domestic violence, law enforcement, ICADV, and others.
