About Me...
"I joined the Center for Positive Change team in 2013 as an intern. At the time, I was earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology, but was not completely sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. I leaned on my own personal history with domestic violence and, fueled by my desire to support and advocate for others in a similar situation, I ultimately became the batterer’s intervention, domestic violence, and anger management program manager in 2014. I went on to earn a master’s degree in social work from Indiana University and graduated as a member of the Kappa Gamma Phi Alpha Honors Society in 2017. After more than ten years at Center for Positive Change, I took over as executive director in 2023 and discovered that, in addition to my passion for domestic violence treatment and support, I also have a strong desire to help preschool and elementary school aged children navigate some of childhood’s biggest hurdles. Like Plato, I understand the power of play. Through play, I use sensitive observation and responses to teach children how to tell their personal stories, tune in to their feelings, observe their thoughts, and improve their problem-solving ability. My goal is to help children feel seen, safe, and cared for, because it is only in this feeling of safety that children will be able to connect with themselves, build healthy relationships with others, and learn new behaviors and ways of coping. I look forward to helping your child on their journey to becoming their most confident, secure, and loving self."
